Activities 2011

We keep going, doing a little bit of everything, and spend nice time training together :) This spring Kito was entered in a working trial (searching/rescue and obedience) and was approved and promoted to the next level in the Nordic program. Only very few ridgebacks have ever been entered in this kind of working trial, so I am quite pleased with our achievements!

On the first of July this year RallyO became an official sport here in Sweden, and Kito and I entered our first Rally competition on the 2:nd of July :) In the beginning of August we got our RallyO' diploma in novice class, and since we have entered a couple of times in experienced class with qualifying results.

Activities 2010

Search-training continues, and the plan is to also introduce tracking people. We'll see what time and my energy allows for. On the obedience side I plan to start competing in the first level. Results from competitions on the Obedience page, top left link. (Kito got a 1st prize in obedience level 1, and was promoted to level 2 in November)

Activities fall of 2009

We will continue working with the instructors from our search-dog course. During the fall the focus will be more on the obedience needed to compete at the first level in working-dogs competitions.

After a long break we are to take up blood tracking again, with the help of experienced instructors who have access to grounds, guns and interesting distractions.

Update: Kito earned his tracking champion title on his first three starts in open class with top scores. On one of these he was awarded best dog of the trial. We have started six times this year, and got five 1:st prizes. All in all, we're quite happy with that!

Activities spring of 2009

We attended a search-dog course at the dog training club and both Kito and I were smitten. It is a true pleasure to see how much he enjoys it! We will continue the search training, and see where it takes us.

We also train some obedience, although we haven't moved forward much in the past six months. We did go for a weekend course with a clicker trainer, and had some new inspiration. We'll keep working on it ;)

Some blood tracking has also been on our schedule, and we will continue with that too eventually.

Obedience training

We attended a basic obedience class at a dog training club, and finished on the 22nd of November with a series of tests. Kito and I passed all the tests, and got the "all clear" to go on to the next level. We also had a competition among the participants where we managed to get second prize. Kito was a couple of days short of eight months, and the youngest in the group. All in all I'm quite happy with our result! Too see the test items and our results use the link to Obedience in the left menu.
